you never noticed me
You never noticed me,
as I passed you on the stair
wanting to ingest
your entirety .
a green satin sheen,
of dress matched
glitter and shadow
catching the halogens .
she descended
and later,
with heel rested,
one pretended to gaze beyond
heel clad calve
a shard of contact
a moment,
elusive.
how couldĀ anything abscond from this?
her catchment,
like curiosity,
there to be discovered
Jewelled moments like this
gently unfold .
the magical origami
of childhood .
the first pangs of love
distant in memory yet potent
it feels like this moment
and I smile inside,
shy,
and finally sat beside-
I felt she sought me out
that the attraction of beauty
had made me blind, feared she may misunderstand,
that her beauty was criminal,
to be untouched
feared for fleeting staircase gestures
I took a pencil case,
tipp-exed her initials .
tried to guess her name.

This is a lovely poem Pete... I think we can all relate to wanting to capture someone's attention and feeling like we are invisible to them...
