The Tudor Kings and Queens

entry picture

(The second of my little series on the Tudors for my daughter doing a project on them with her class)

King Henry the Seventh was first to arrive,

Ascending the throne – 1485;

No doubt you’ll have heard

That Richard the Turd

Never left Bosworth alive.

His eldest son Arthur was accident prone

And died at 15 before he was full grown

The crown was passed on

To his second son

As Henry the Eighth took the throne.

King Henry the Eighth was known for his tricks

And one for the ladies (he sure liked his chicks!)

Some wives lost their head

Some lived and some dead;

All in all Henry had six.

It pleased Old King Henry to think that he had

Finally fathered a son – Ned the lad;

He was just a boy
Who played with his toys

As Edward succeeded his dad.

But Edward was always a pale sickly youth;

“I can’t go to school cos I’m sick.  It’s the truth”

They wouldn’t be told

So at 16 years old

He dies and says, “Now there’s your proof!”

And following Edward came Mary the First

It’s said of the Tudors that she was the worst;

Hundreds would die

As Mary would try

To put worshipping into reverse.

The last of the Tudors was Good Queen Bess;

She was both a lady and brave lioness

Who beat the Armada

Back to Granada;

But childless, nevertheless.

Elizabeth therefore could not hand the reins

Of monarchy onto a Tudor in name;

No heir could be found

And so there was crowned

The first of The Stuarts called James.

Hello Starfish. What are you doing sat in here all on your own?
This is rather an empty room compared to the one next door.
Many thanks for your comments. My moment of fame among 6-year olds has been short-lived I'm afraid. My daughter has sacked me off in favour of something she found on YouTube.
(...and I am a bit "fictional" with the historical facts)

Like this. Excellent and fun way to get children to remember historical facts.
