All steamed up for Worcestershire literary festival
Poetry and trains are on the timetable at Worcestershire literary festival, which begins on Friday 20 June and continues until Sunday 29 June. The Steam Poets, led by Dave Reeves, the grand station master of ceremonies, pictured, will be reading poetry on the concourse at the Severn Valley Railway’s Kidderminster station, from 11am-3pm on Thursday 26 June. The Steam Poets are Suz Winspear, Deborah Alma, Alison Absolute, Stephen Clarke, Rohit the Poet, and Write Out Loud’s Greg Freeman, and they will be joined by Staffordshire poet Bert Flitcroft. Other poetry highlights on the festival bill include Worcestershire poet laureate competition, a pop-up poets’ bus tour, poems from folk singer/comedian Mike Harding, spoken word star Jonny Fluffypunk, poems in the park, and a Sunday night slam to mark the end of the festival.
