Tone of Life
Life - like the sound of a bell
Bold at first but fades to a whisper
Who would be the one to tell
Perhaps a mother brother or sister,
Past your peak and gone to seed
Your realisation is sudden it would seem
Most of life sat in thought
Just idle dreams of what could have been,
The recognition of this phase of being
Propells you forward with purposeful meaning
Ambition all polished and ready to sail
No storm or tempest could cause you to fail,
What time have you left
To make up for such waste
Live for today, but do not act in haste
The rewards for such toil brings a smile to the face
As you fall into line with the whole human race,
Gone are the principals that were hard bound
Gone are your ideals without a sound
Dismayed as a child at the rape of the land
The carnage and killing so abundantly found,
All of those feelings torn to shreds
Filed away in the back of your head
Ignored, deluded or diluted I'd say
To make the game of Life
a tad easier to play.
