A Lonely Heart's Story

A Lonely Heart’s Story

Pain.

An inescapable result of mistakes and bad choices.

An intrinsic lesson waiting under your skin.

The innocent as vulnerable as the culpable.

And for what reason?

They have done nothing wrong. They haven’t broken a law.

Why must bad things happen to good people?

But it’s more than physical pain, it’s the emotional side of pain that is un-bearable.

A death in the family, a quarrel that breaks two lovers apart, or even the poor soul that doesn’t even have someone to love, or someone to love them.

It hurts deep down inside when you do not have a lover, a friend, and a companion.

It becomes a hard belief that you may be destined to wander alone for the rest of your life.

Yet you see so many other people in love, kissing, hugging; doing exactly what you want to do.

You watch and imagine yourself in love, with someone...anyone.

You sit at your table and pretend that your lover is talking with you about their day.

You drive in your car and envision your spouse asleep in the passenger seat.

You open the door to your house and picture your partner walking toward you, greeting you, and embracing you uxoriously.

You lie in bed at night wishing that the pillow next to you would wrap its arm around you and say it loves you.

Just to hear those simple words, I love you, would be enough to fill your body with warmth, contentment, and eternal love.

And for some deranged reason you can only hope, and desire these moments.

It must be some kind of sick luck that this gift of solitude be-fronts you.

But don’t give-up, and don’t make due, for later in your life a miracle will come through.

It will happen, and somehow you know it will, so you wait and anticipate.
