As If
As If
If sadness were a distance, I’d be here
Furthest away from where I feel near
I try to remain sensible
Yet, oddly feel dispensable
Autumn’s hypnotics ceases my aging
Solemn, neurotic, each is my caging
Within the scent of elder wisdom
Among the cool breeze slipping by
Inside each rain drop if you listen
She sings the song of eternal life
Speaking under my breath
Though reaffirming myself
What I can express through dance
Never speaks while I walk alone in silence
As if I can see the result eight days ahead
Merging, surging, purging 21
I’ve reached a matter beyond matters
To end my life or keep holding on
Every week is each new epoch
Promises held to delay gratification
Keeping in mind the reason for another
The struggle to become something better
As if I’m waiting to hear the rest of the story
An emotional cosmos shadowed by memories and fear
The accord of happiness, love, and glory
Now takes due form within the mirror
Non-emoted music laid down against my soul
Dissected from cohesion to tonal caw
Once linked with a moment, behold
A time relived, celebrated with inner awe
As another week passes
I hope many more may come
As if I breach impasses
Death will wait until I’m done
