And their mystery within

All the like

And dislike

And the fear

And delight

The disguise and deception

The obsession and performance

Of the circus

That is people

When the curtain falls

And the make up's

Removed

The shadows peel back

To reveal

Us

Staring out

From our

Badly lit mirrors

With our watery smiles

And our hapless eyes

And our costumes

In piles

All over the floor

Choose your suit

Carefully

Mind how you walk

And dig your hole

Cautiously

Because the fancy-dress box

You known as your life

Gives you one great performance

And then

You

Are gone
