God Unzipped the Sky
God unzipped the sky and gazed with glory through the gap,
He let out an almighty sigh and cried upon the soil and sap;
Of toiled trees left bludgeoned black and blue
And harried humans wiped of coloured hue;
On withered lovers lost on weary waves
Of years and months and weeks and days.
And knowing they'd forgotten that which mattered,
He grabbed his brush and roughly splattered
Upon the roots and rooves and random places;
He speckled light and freckled faces.
Then zipping up his sky once more
He hoped this time his light would shine and soar
And rest in hearts and fill up all the cracks
And bring the light and peace and beauty back.
