Follow The Raindrops
Raindrops fall
raindrops fall in between you and I
Me I let them fall
no umbrella, no coat
I encourage them to fall
doing my dance
I actively enjoy begging them down
The quiet raindrops
they fall, invisible to you
and I am enjoying their playful patter
I am hypnotised by their gentle tickle
lost, in secret
falling between me and you
Licking at my skin
the raindrops have me in their spell
I am consumed by the pleasure they bring
Then... ah hey!
Ah hey!
a moment of damp clarity
standing in the bathroom one night
I realise
I don’t think to think about
the puddles that are forming
I don’t think of the streams draining away
I’ve not considered
the rivers
I’ve not given thought
to the seas
that will one day run
that will one day stand between
you and me
These inconsequential raindrops
I enjoy in the silence
those harmless little raindrops
I let fall in private
I must think of the rivers
I must look ahead to the seas
I must acknowledge how they could drown you
I must remember
they could so easily drown me too
Stay out of the rain
Avoid that rain at all costs
and stay true
and keep my promise to you…
