Rose

FOR ROSE

(a regret)

Rose, it doesn`t need me to say
How warm your eyes are,
How full of the merry-dance flicker and play
Of flame (the light of a bright star`s
Cold compared - that light`s more near,
That leaps from your heart-blaze, friendly, and charm and cheer).

These are but truths.

And you`ve got grace girl, your dancing soothes
Tired eyes, as in the music`s slake you move -
Wisp as a sea-frond -  supple, and slender, and smooth.

Friendly as help your smile was, welcome-wide,
So open love it humbled all my pride.
But I – the cold outsider - stayed outside

……………………………………………..

(Rose, I was a fool...I should have tried.)

You really do write the best love poetry I've read on here, Harry. Deep respect to your "Research".

Harry, I absolutely LOVE this poem! It's wonderful. It could easily be taken for one by e.e.cummings. Wisp as a sea frond; merry-dance flicker; Friendly as help your smile was, welcome-wide .....just gorgeous :) I really hope you write more in this style.
