Sunbathing (1995) 20th anniversary edition
Lying lazy this summer beach,
Sun high, vibrant and perpetual.
The world in my most dominant reach,
Its sand draining through my grasps -
running soft like fire in my egg timer like fingers.
Browning of the skin
As molecular grains try desperately to linger.
Translucent seas,
And time is now irrelevant,
Which is the biggest truth.
I'm tranquil,
immunisation,
sun hypnotic and free,
as waves lap my feet like a mother's touch soothes.
Tropical salts blown in air,
and as for the world. Yes the world -
it could end right now for what I care.
