Triumphant Banners

entry picture

At uni they were marching

behind banners red and proud.

They proclaimed the fight for freedom

and they puffed the weed in clouds.

They went on by degrees

to lead the government.

The chance to bring in liberty

that with banners they proclaimed.

Now, heading up their Ministries,

the student rebels have

the power in their grasp at last,

the legislators hand.

So now they show their colours clear.

The street is long forgotten.

The banners ban all they enjoyed,

their early life forgotten.

The banners ban us smoking.

The banners ban all drugs.

The banners ban the right to live,

the freedom that we love.

I'm just browned off with men of straw.

These bleary smiths must forge no more.

Your milli band is worth no vote.

Your banner's blown its last.

Interesting how you have captured the politics versa reality in this write.

"At uni they were marching

They proclaimed the fight for freedom
and they puffed the weed in clouds."

We want FREEDOM for ALL, but the FREEDOM is hard to come by...Great poem!...Zuzanna
