Fools Rush In
A goof, a dope, a wally
What a wazzock, a goose, a goon
He must be off his trolley
A twerp, a twonk, a nitwit
A divvy, a cretin, a doofus, an oaf
A berk, a jerk, an eejit
A dipstick, a plonker, a twit
A drongo, a plank, a jester, a clown
A prat, a pillock, a git
_____
They're a joke - it's a lark; a caper
We’re clapping and cheering at their demise
On the TV news and papers
And though clearly full of bull
Their harebrained schemes and thoughtless dreams
Somehow start to seem 'artful'
But we're falling for this fad
It's silly, it's senseless, it's witless, it's rash
Surely we can see we're mad?!
One who just stands and stratches a chin
One who dillys & dallys and muddles through life
With a whimsical, gormless grin
But we need, now and then, to open our eyes
And to vote wisely - let's be blunt
Not all buffoons are impotent loons
No - some we need to confront
We can be blinded by ego and vice
Charisma should never trump sanity.
Easy answers come at a price.
And at the risk of sounding hollow…
Maybe try to remember that while Fools Rush In -
Bigger fools - they follow
