this dog is so close
..she nudges my hand from my thigh to rest atop her muzzle.
..her caregiver says she is reserved and skittish of strangers.
..she is still and staring with those wide shepherd eyes.
I am still and do not dare remove her focus
..is it an approaching seizure?
..will my plane crash on my return home?
..is she trying to tell me to hide under the table from the coming earthquake?

..must've been so anxious for someone to call me on that bologne that I mistook "I do think" for "I do not think"..how ever-so-slightly awkward.

Just taking a piss, as they say. If you don't see it as clever, then, I suppose you must get my drift, at least somewhat.
As for conditions of nervousness, that could go either way, as far as I can see. Whether one makes animals nervous or they are made nervous by animals. This one didn't seem particularly agitated.
