sadness in a toothache

i can get
so upset
that my teeth
begin to hurt
like i'm biting
tin cans
and swallowing
battery fluid
branding
the pain
and figuring
out
that all
of the above
isn't
good for me
that it's
too much
of a sum
of dead weight
so i try
being good
at being well
again
and i don't touch
anything
except all that was
around
when i first
felt sad
just then
today
in that use
of space
and by the time
i grasp
what the trigger
was
i have decided
to be more
of a straight line
as i walk
like a victim
towards
a set
of familiar
and open
arms

I think you get across well the feeling of stumbling through depression - reminds me a bit of Sylvia Plath.

i just like how fragmented it sounds, which is sometimes how i feel when i'm upset.

Emily,
Is there a reason this piece is long and thin?
