This City
This city
I think I could grow to love this place
With all its colours and all its grey walls
I could grow in this place
Grow beyond any confinement of dusty halls.
I like the way the smoke from my mouth
Rises above my head into the sky
And I look to this circle of friends
And one by one my fears seem to die
I could grow beyond myself
So much to live out
To embrace all penniless wealth.
The friends I have met here
Brought my magic back to me
All those pieces I had lost
They picked up, they reassembled
The person I, one of these days could be
I think I could grow to love this city
With all its late night cigarettes
I think I could grow to see beyond
All past sins and all our strange regrets
I think I could grow and flourish here
And see life as I do not know it yet.
