Angelsey for sale (2016)
Angelsey for sale,
yes please!
Only wish it could cater for all work and trade
- salary to survive.
Imagine buying some land
and letting go of the world.
Wondering now, why anyone would want to sell up
and leave such an isle of serenity,
except for the jet skis.
Perhaps time is hard and business is bust,
as nuclear power gives way to
Japanese contracts to decommission and rebuild reactors of
Cameron's back (pocket) door deal.
Stood on shore and shingle
in hope of a tope,
from Caemus day beauty and Cemlyn tranquil half-moon nights.
Come on fishing rod,
bite! bite! bite!
The throng of Spring time anglers staring out to the blue
distance to Dublin in despair for mackeral,
once abundant from Easter time as a kid.
"Still a bit early yet"
the local man says, this shaman marine.
"and now we have those damn quarters on bass to contend with"
Blame the gluttony of celebrity chefs and
new line curry houses,
combining spice with the wolf of the sea.
Today we settle for blennies, sea scorpions,
or wrasse,
even a dogfish as we scour the rocks for peeler crabs.
RAF jets split the skyline,
in chance of war across these iron age lands,
to serve and protect.
A rescue helicopter buzzes Treadur bay and waves 'Hi!'
bank holiday heat wave spy.
The tide comes in and the tide goes out,
at scattered times to compass this isle.
Welsh lamb, oggies, pies and cakes,
that prosper our stomachs,
this catch of the day.
Geoman rock bays tell stories of
Earth's infant cries,
as stone obelisks and burial mounds,
honour the ancient dead in rugged fields
and middle of nowhere lanes.
Bendy island roads harrassed by 4X4 families
towing canoes and nets a plenty.
Red wharf bay - a yachter's charm,
with real ale, malty dark or amber pale.
Ddwyfol.
Lift up rocks to starfish dreams,
as hermit crabs scream to the noise of
kids and dogs harvesting the pools of thought.
specimens to collect for beach glow biology.
Manic screams preach their way out of the car cd player,
and thoughts of Dylan Thomas.
Mae gan wales celf swreal.
It has a romantic feel,
a west coast zeitgeist.

Nicely put David, I know the area quite well and love to visit as often as I can.
