Surrounded by September
I gaze on the forgotten summer fading into the distant horizon
As my pounding heart and tortured soul turn an artic icy blue
The days are short and the nights are growing ever longer
Planet earth you have got the power – nothing that I can do
How I miss the sensuous soothing heat of the eternal sun
Warm gentle breezes that blew kindly through my hair
Clear blue skies full of dashing and dancing butterflies
Days of fun and laughter and in the world not a care
Here it comes sparkling and twinkling like a sultry sapphire
Arriving at breakneck speed like a rampant runaway train
The sweet floral beguiling smell of forget-me-nots
Autumn is surely knocking on my door once again
Déjà vu as far as my advancing years can remember
I am surrounded and astounded by September
