Laura Taylor takes her hard-hitting poetry performance to London
Political and passionate performance poet Laura Taylor is leaving her northern stamping ground and heading down south for a three-date, whistlestop tour of London, starting in Brixton on Friday 21 October. Her debut collection Kaleidoscope, published earlier this year by Flapjack Press, has been described by Attila the Stockbroker as “one of the best books of poetry I have ever read”.
She has had poems published in a number of anthologies, including Poems for Freedom and Over Land, Over Sea - poems for those seeking refuge. Her poem 'Dear Margaret' recently featured in the London poetry book fair's anthology.
Laura will be supported by fellow north-west poet Joy France. Her show at Brixton Pound Café on Atlantic Road on 21 October starts at 7pm and will finish at 9pm, and entry is free, with payment by donation. She will also be performing a set at Housman’s Radical Bookshop on Caledonian Road, King's Cross, at 6.30pm on Saturday 22 October, which will launch a series of poetry and experimental literature events called The Locomotrix at the bookshop. Laura will be be appearing at the Ivy House in Stuart Road, Nunhead, south-east London, on Sunday 23 October at 7.30pm, and once again entry is free.
A limited amount of open-mic spots will be available for each event; to book one of these spots, email Laura at laura_w_taylor@hotmail.com

Sorry to miss it - on child-minding duty all weekend. Sounds like it went well for you, though, according to Greg's review.
