Loving ourselves
Learning to love yourself is gruelling. Every flaw, every mistake, every quirk. Only us ourselves know how characteristically flawed we truly are. So we hide. Hide behind make up, clothes and materials.
Social media enables us to create an ideology of the person we think we are, the person we want to be. But in the midst of the night we lie awake contemplating ourselves. Questioning our choices, and holding ourselves captive in the candidness of our minds.
Meanwhile we construct a socially viable version of ourselves. The infallible version of perfectionism we aspire to. We create the problematic paradox for ourselves because this is not reality. We're flawed more than we could ever have admittance to but at the same time as knowing all of our ugly, clandestine, surreptitious characteristics, and loathing ourselves for every disgusting detail of our being, we're also mindful of the beautifully captivating and alluring imperfections we hide. The unique intriguing aspects that enable us to be loved.
And as much as the density of negativity can easily weigh us down .. We have to try every single day to remind ourselves of the glimmer of unquestionable beauty we posses as individuals.
Loving yourself is gruelling .. - yet paramountly essential.
