Ideal
I want to join the PTA and bake cakes for the summer fete
I want to go to parents’ evening, and be told my kids are great!
I want to be a housewife, tuck the kids in at night
Give them a kiss and cuddle, while they read by torch light
I want to tell them stories, of when I was their age,
When I wanted to be a Spice Girl, and piercings were all the rage!
I want to be told that I’m uncool, and that my clothes are naff!
I want them to be happy, never fear their mother’s wrath
I want to take my kids to scouts, and make a family tea
I want all the other mums and dads to envy you and me
Two kids, two dogs, a lovely house, an office for me to write
A garage or a tool shed where you retreat every night…
A spare room for the grandparents, a garden with a tree
A treehouse for the kids above, and below, a hammock for you and me
Scraped knees and elbows a side, I will never make them cry
I want them to want for nothing until the day I die
See I just want the normal things,
I just want the world,
I just want us to be happy… Me and my best girl.
