Wakefield's Red Shed is Back!
Wakefield¹s own little poetic gem returns this autumn to present the best local writers to the Wakefield public. First up for the autumn season on Thursday October 8th will be Joolz Denby, who has been a professional writer of poetry and fiction, spoken-word artist, illustrative artist and photographer for over twenty-eight years. She is also a professional tattoo artist and arts curator.
Joolz tours the world giving highly acclaimed dramatic readings of her work (poetry and prose). She is noted for the emotive, musical quality of her voice and the skill with which she presents the characters she has written about and is considered to be the UK's premier woman spoken-word artist ('the Queen Of British Spoken Word').
Support on October 8th will
be Rupert Martin, who will be launching From the Baltic to the Black Sea, a
collection of poems and photos tracing his family¹s Eastern-European heritage.
The following month sees the Wakefield debut of up and coming Sheffield poet
River Woolton, with support from Pete Lancaster, and the first season climaxes
with a rare local appearance by internationally acclaimed writer David Peace,
(the Red Riding Quartet, as filmed by Channel 4, The Damned United, now a major
motion picture starring Michael Sheen, GB84 and the Tokyo Year Zero trilogy).
Admission will be £2.
