Only a shadow
An image captured,
a likeness drawn
But only a shadow,
a thought
and a hope
All that was painted
will melt
into base
The template uncovered,
an image misplaced.
An image captured,
a likeness drawn
But only a shadow,
a thought
and a hope
All that was painted
will melt
into base
The template uncovered,
an image misplaced.

if the poem directly refers to the picture then I like the fact that this piece of old wall has drawn attention to itself and inspired your words when so many would have walked past and overlook it.

The poem actually refers to the way we have a tendency to idealise the things we see, more generally speaking. This photo was one of many in my own archive and it seemed to fit with the theme. It certainly inspired me to take the photo but not to write the poem!
