The Sunflower
On the road from Seville to Granada
one needs to look no farther
As far as the eye can see and behold
there is a magnificence to unfold
A sea, a meadow arrayed in yellow
flowers so bright they almost bellow
On sturdy green stalks they sway in the breeze
and do so with perfect ease
A sunflower is nature´s beauty clock
a dial of radiant time to unlock
It stands erect with dignity and pride
with almost nothing for nature to hide
In rows they form a regimental line
and do gently nod, all in time
Nature´s bloom of superb arrogance
has its own unique circumstance
They possess a quality, almost a stare
as they stand upright and quite bare
They brighten up the dullest day
as they enjoy to dance, play and shed their ray
