Happy St Patrick's Day
When I woke up this morning just as the day was dawning
I looked at the time and the clock like me was yawning
Back I fell to sleep and awoke at pm 9:45 that’s no jive
Out of bed I crawled my head in a spin enough said
Stumbled down the stairs and ran a comb through my hair
Up I glanced at the calendar and back at me it did stare
It was March 17 I was lost and found in a Hibernian dream
Then suddenly I realised much to my utter surprise
That it was St Patrick’s Day right before my very eyes
I got dressed in a hurry my face creased with worry
Down the road I scooted dodging cars that tooted
At a pub named the crown on the other side of town
I arrived well out of breath panting almost near to death
At the bar I ordered a cigar Guinness and whiskey in a jar
Irish eyes were smiling and their voices were singing
Hospitality friendship and the craic was ringing
Drink it was flowing and Celtic pride was glowing
We have got the charm for sure we’ll do you no harm
Whether you are a poet or writer a rock star or fighter
What more can I say but Sláinte Happy St Patrick’s Day
