Astral Journey

 

Without warning and to my surprise

I hovered above in the skies

Down beneath lay my home

and I above quite alone

I could not understand 

what it could mean to be

Now I could sense eternity

Neither cold nor wind I could feel

It was all most unreal

Then with ease of flight

I took off into the night

Over mountain and valley I flew

With growing confidence anew

Towns and villages all raced by

With no energy, I was able to fly

This nocturnal flight into the night gave my life renewed insight

Out over sea and wide ocean

It was as if I had taken some magic potion

On I winged into the night

With no sense of inner fright

Travelling for some endless time

I flew about my home to find

With a built in sense of direction

It was simple to make a selection

I climbed and banked my flight to retrace

In addition, hurtled away in time and space

Excited, thrilled and elated

My journey was soon abated

There below my home I saw

As I had left it hours before

I glided down without a sound

For I knew I was homeward bound
