The Lady of the House
The Lady of the House
Her life was fully given
A commitment seldom faltering
A loveless marriage irreparable
One in complete despair
Four sons and a daughter to care
The joy and pride of her life
Maternal duties, daily chores, a high price
A home cleaned and made every day
A woman of strong character all the way
Faithful and true to her devoted flock
Yet forfeited the opportunity to swot
To advance a fine mind to its limit
An intellect superior in kind to boot
There could have been a different route
The world of academia did call
yet she forsook all
For those she loved and gave to them
the best she could
No hint or suggestion of regret did she ever display
as she kept home night and day
