The Lament of a Technophobe
The Lament of a Technophobe
I am reaching fever pitch
with an unquenchable desire
to launch a devastating and major strike
on all the technology I loathe and hate
Yet we are caught up in a net
of mobile phones, pea pods and the internet
Oral dialogue has almost gone
and personal chit chat nearly none
We text, type with cyber chatter
and seldom with our friends properly natter
Picture postcards have been commited to history
as photos and messages are sent instantly
I am old, impatient, wearisome and tired
bring back the days of hammered vellum
with fountain pens, envelopes and stamps
Telephones that were black and had a dial
where we could chat for a while
Technology may be the wheel of relentless progress
but despite all these gadgets we still live in a mess
In a world of mounting stress
where all the technocrats say yes

Hi Jeff,
Wait until the Internet of Things arrives - that's just around the corner. There will be no going back..
Personally, and perhaps not a little ironically, the techno world we live in has given me so many ideas for poems because it is such a fascinating subject, although it can be a dark one too. Imagine where we will be in ten years? Actually that is sort of impossible now..
Cheers for the read!
