A Circle of Friends

 

They do not number many

but are worth every penny

on the exchange rate

they seldom do fluctuate

 

Each is a complete individual

our friendships are very personal

We have so much in common to share

and generally with little time to spare

 

We endlessly write, send cards and messages

and when together enjoy a few beverages

These are solid people of real worth

men and women, the salt of the earth

 

Their friendship has been refined in the fire

and not one can be said to be a liar

Whenever I need them they are to be found

on sure, steady and firm ground
