The Poet Philosopher
The Poet Philosopher
The poet observes the world about him
without pre judgement he takes all in
He stops to pay attention to beauty
and regards it in all its purity
He views tragedy and sadness with compassion
and is forever ready to learn a new lesson
He gazes to the heavens and beyond
to search for that eternal bond
He frowns with dismay the destruction of war
and earnestly exhorts that there be no more
His heart is broken and torn apart
for those young lives who are never given a start
He seeks inspiration from many a place
but focuses chiefly on the human race
He questions the rights and wrongs of life
often unable to comprehend violence and strife
He urges and exposes so as to provoke
knowing that there is a fire whenever one sees smoke
He shames the greedy who exploit the poor
and condemns corruption to the sewer
He speaks and writes from within his soul
spanning a world from pole to pole
He draws upon his memory and experience
to bring some light to this our existence
