WINNERS AND LOSERS

entry picture

Despite attaining most seats

The Tories don’t cheer in the streets;

There’s no horsey din

For they barely scraped in

With a Win that feels like Defeat.

It’s Labour who gortle and grin,

Delighting in rubbing it in;

They preen with conceit

In blogs and in tweets

With Defeat that feels like a Win.

Yours beats mine hands down rhythmically, Harry. The limerick is made for the hanging last syllable.

John,
Can I help it if the sheer twinned recognition
of the double-sidedness of the result (exemplified
by the juxtapositions of `win` and `defeat` in those
two last lines) caused a fit of limerickle inspiration.?

(your kind of stuff is catching man!) ?

Pack it in, Harry. I don't mind you writing better stuff than me but there's no need to stick on my blog!

Nice, limericky - (placing the result) - pair John,

(I like the way the last line of the first one rattles when you say it fast)

Just to get into the spirit...the reason why May should be around for a little while yet:

Although they were not quite defeated
Many Tories were rudely unseated.
So to fully ensure
The remainder endure
The election will not be repeated.

It's lucky for them that voting went on into the evening, after their getting up time.

Many of them have already voted twice! I call them the "Press Reset" generation

I hope the 18-24's can feel someone else's piss running down their legs now.
