She had that ‘heart wide open’ thing going on,

the one that you find more often in

small children than in adults.

I stared into her eyes and noticed that she

looked upwards at the world in hope. 

Like the roof had been torn off her soul but she was still

brave enough to stand vigil, anticipating a day when

sunlight may come pouring in via the breach.
