Dark Times

 

Darkness pervades

our light is diminished

Pessimism now reigns

as hope does fade

Calamity in the ascendancy

no respect for humanity

Bullets ring out

as people fall and shout

The world is bleak

more so every week

Souls are vanquished

as evil is cherished

We glance with concern

but fail to learn

Confusion is King

new bells do ring

Hope sinks before us

as wealth controls us

Decency once fought for

has now gone before before

Values in utter chaos

but we do not blames us

God has been forsaken

there is no concentration

We retreat in fear

and refuse to hear

Our spirits despair

as no one does care

We have capitulated

as hate is promulgated

To where do we turn

as hearts desperately churn

We have one abiding hope

to help us cope

God is still there

but for Him do we any

longer care?
