The Shell
The Shell
The shell opened gradually
as I peered out earnestly and deftly
Light filtered into my tiny cavern
as I pondered what lay without
The darkness was one of security
and obscure confidence
Yet I had an appetite to see
outside and see all that I had been told
No dismay only amazement
as I took leave of my
oceanic home and its kingdom
I stood aghast and also dazed
The shore was littered with
empty homes as I had left my own
but I needed to forge a future
anew and discover what lay ahead
Above the waves
and depths
I encountered what
I could not conceive
Deserts, jungles
mountains did abound
I looked into this
vista with wonder
How could it be that
beneath the waves
I had lived in darkness
and now I saw the sun
The magnificence of it all
caused me to reel back
in astonishment
To explore I must as it
required my joy and wonderment
