Now is all we have
we can dress it up
with money
throw it in the car
and drive it
flip it upside down
and hide it
hold it
under the blanket
make it sound funny
wax and wane nostalgic
not spend more time
thinking about it
now is all we have
good old days
just a trick of memory
when I can’t find my way
pull the plug on me
nostalgia was a disease
in other centuries
I wanna see tomorrow
want you there with me
(or another
comparable model)
but if I fail to see the beauty
life with all its mystery
If I lapse into history
bring on the fat lady
now is all we have

Oh I like this. Proper resonates with me. I've always been painfully aware of the now, it pounds into you without mercy should you ever take your eye off the ball.
There's a lovely flow of sonics in the first three verses.
