Horror
It's hardly a matter of going into the wood
more a matter of not leaving it;
children, stay away from the edge.
Hitting the concrete means death,
and should you hear the iron shriek
please move deeper if you can.
Our growing understanding
of towers putting trees in the shade
spreads a dread of becoming
petrified by the horror, and those unable
to return with their story we mourn
in perpetuity.

Very compelling. I'm not sure I understand all of it, but enough to feel it strongly. Superficially, I did think of the dreadful technical accidents at 'Entertainment Parks'; but that may be way off-track.
I've never seen 'Into the Woods'. So I may be missing a major cultural idea. But I think the poem stands alone, without referencing anything else.
