Under the Gun
Amidst the streets and avenues
Where every track and trail
hear children cry and babies wail
And lead you to a crime or two
Many local folk scurry along
Oblivious to the shades of darkness
The covert meeting and exchange points
In dim light, twilight or even broad daylight
Capital of culture or capital of crime?
Is now a line used to describe suburbia
taken over by a different society in time
It’s problems now lie under the gun
All seems to be about territory or manor
Which side of the road or estate you live
What football team or religious banner
you stand for or support, under the gun
Under the gun
Or under the sun?
“All this I have seen and applied my mind to every deed that has been done under the sun, wherein a man has exercised authority over another man to his hurt

Great poem, very thought provoking in its substance, and an enjoyable read.
