Specific Gravities
the weight of my record collection
kept me up all night
I didn’t listen to anything
just stared at the spines
thought of those moments
lived not vicariously
those emotions were real
shared from the vinyl to me
thought of all the things
I could possibly do with my time
listening to records wasn’t the worst
making them might be alright
the weight of that collection
filled my empty hours
asking me questions
my jobs couldn’t answer
melodies generated
lyrics read
become the symphony
I carry in my head
filling the minutes
drugging my day
silent and invisible
stolen moments kept still

I agree with Graham about the music in your head. I also understand about looking at the spines. I have spent many years doing so and still play them.
