Charlatan
I commit my thoughts to the ocean,
Magnificent, protean
Mysterious, beyond my gaze
Free, without emotion.
Silent wild and thunderous
Cavernous and gaping,
Still beneath a placid haze,
Wondrous and knowing.
Above a gaping horizon
Wide clouds hang overweight
And gather for the union,
Before the plunge, inflate.
At the coast, ad infinitum
Insentient objects glint
In pools where palls are waiting
For the tidal sprint.
A curlew dips, a darting shrimp
Flicks its tail and hides,
Beneath the silt and sediment
Consuming worlds collide.
The gull with blameless hunger
Stalks above the buried lug,
A bottle gathers sand and traps
A frantic water-bug.
The sea grass globes encase, embrace
A cast out finished straw,
The mindless Mephistopheles
Plastic haunts the shore.

An important comment on our oceans.
