Once
I once knew love
As stars above
Shone down like rain
In a lightning storm
Cyclonic embrace
Enraptured my soul
And brought me to tears
When it died long ago
I once had trust
As rocks below
Sturdy like mountains
In a typhonic blow
Earthy encased
Captured my fears
And taught me to doubt
When crumbled all it endears
I once felt truth
As sunshine surrounds
Leapt up like static-shock
Grappling me to the grounds
Intricately interfaced
Nurtured my name
And caught me without
When I was pulled from the frame
I once held faith
As lifting clouds
Cradled my dreams
Impervious to the tempest
Reluctance replaced
Future foretold
And naught came about
When forced from the threshold
I once could see her
As a parallel echo
Two lives in trajectory
Slipstream simpatico
Obstacles outfaced
Adventures in pair
And the vision erased
When it kicked me down the stairs

Great poem, love the structure and word choices. I've just gone through what you speak of. I'm not sure about the last line though. It feels too out of place.
Thanks
