Stranger's Smile

Stranger's Smile

(to suicide victims)

I said hi to the stranger that walked on this road,

For his cloak was brilliant and bright.

He said hi with a smile and adjusted his load.

His eyes beamed with meaning and light.

I said how are you doing to him and his smile,

For I truly felt that I cared.

He said I am well but I cannot stay a while,

And he walked off to God knows where.

The beauty in passing with a stranger so kind,

Would never have impacted me.

But then time passed and while I was reading the news,

He's in the obituary.
