Walls
I built my walls,
Denying their existance,
Defending them,
When I no longer could.
I grew comfortable,
In my self created,
Safe Space.
No one could hurt me,
'Cause no one could get in.
Couldn't learn to rely on them,
'Cause I couldn't trust them.
But you,
With you,
Everything's different.
Everything seems
So much easier.
The clench,
On my heart,
Releases.
I can breathe.
Pause and catch my breath.
That's the fine print in the contract,
The thing they never told me:
Go ahead and lock out the worst,
And risk missing the best.
It's hard to let it all go tumbling down.
To not fear around every corner.
To think that it's okay to have this.
My armor is easily cracked by you.
You make me
Smile,
Laugh.
No worry
Or pretending.
Anything
Seems to be possible,
So long as,
I look over
And you're there.
I can breathe.
Pause and catch my breath.
