Quercus Robur

Quercus robur; the king of the forest.

A doorway to knowledge for Celtic folk.

A tiny wren, nesting in the shadows

out-smarts an eagle like the tortoise did the hare.

A warrior king, pot-bellied and coarse

was Dagda, the God of valour and force

of chivalry, strength and fertility,

his magic harp plays nature's joyful song.

A bubbling cauldron and a fearsome club,

his symbols of life and acorns of love.

Oak apples; Mistletoe; and Cosmic eggs

are the charms of youth, good health and long life.

The green man sits beneath its ancient bows

with Mother Goddess; draped in Cancer's leaves.

Significant symbols and  Gospel's truth,

achievements, endeavour under nature's roof.
