Christmas - Growing old.

Dreams of a Christmas full of good cheer.

I wonder if that is possible here.

Family traditions of bygone times,

the tingle of contented nostalgia

and a room filled with fun and laughter.

It all seems so long ago

yet still brings a warm cozy glow.

Mistletoe and berries; ivy and holly

remind me of Christmasses jolly.

Silver baubles and a fairy on the tree,

multi coloured lights like stars

in a room filled with family banter.

It all seems so long ago

yet still brings a warm cozy glow.

Cheesy songs; repeats on t.v.

Tickets to a pantomime i'd like to see.

Christmas Carols' sung in the square,

brass bands and the local choir.

A room filled with gifts around the tree.

It all seems so long ago

yet still brings a warm cozy glow.

They say what goes around, comes around,

that we shouldn't keep treading old ground.

I wonder if it's time now for me to pay

for all the great Christmasses had.

Perhaps i'm just getting old.

It just seems so very long ago

since i felt that warm cozy glow.
