Borderline
Borderline Personality Disorder is the most commonly diagnosed personality disorder
About 70% of people with BPD will make at least one suicide attempt in their lifetime. In addition, between 8 and 10 percent of people with BPD will complete suicide; this rate is more than 50 times the rate of suicide in the general population. (Taken from verywell.com)
People with BPD are commonly misdiagnosed, as other psychiatric illnesses coincide, such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, eating disorders etc.
I wrote this poem in the hopes to raise awareness and used a different writing style to drive the point home. As you can guess, I myself suffer from this illness and to share it with you all is an honour. Thank you for reading.
Emotional dysfunction,
serotonin malfunction.
Social isolation,
overactive mentation.
Self-inflicted lacerations,
unhealthy fixations.
Altered personality,
negative mentality.
Relationships fraught,
constantly distraught.
Concentration lapse,
risking relapse.
Modified reflection,
disgusted perception.
Infinite despair,
lack of welfare.
Rejection expected,
medication accepted.
Blackouts unrestrained,
memories claimed.
Suicide attempt,
people’s contempt.
Impulsive actions
achieving distractions.
Angry tears,
unfounded fears.
Binge drinking
overthinking.
Drug taking,
body shaking.
Anxiety presents,
crowded events.
Institutions section,
expecting correction.
Misdiagnosis
slight neurosis?
I need cognizance,
no contemptuous glance.
I need acknowledgment,
when issues are prominent.
I need support,
no patronising retort.
This is all I need to break free,
from this soul destroying
BPD.

It's an incredibly difficult diagnosis,so much stigma attached to the label.
