Mountains climbed

Does the scuff of your shoes?

And the tear on your dress

Mark the graze on your shins

Away from the grins

And the gaze into your soul

Brush away the gaping hole

Is there a fence

Around your heart where the birds use to sing

And where the sun used to play

In your eyes and your lips

Do the wrinkles and the bags

That form on your face

Hide some previous misdemeanour

You call disgrace

Or are they the marks of a tree

Not endangered and defenceless

But resolute determined

As you have put to one side the speaker of lies

As you can rub off the graffiti

No longer tagged and tied

And you speak out

I am not defeated

Because I am

BEAUTIFUL

you have come on poetical leaps and bounds since I was last on Martin. More power to your quill sir! As to the last line, you will not find me disagreeing.
