Australian Sharks, Dorsal Beer Chests and Fosters Beer

Australian Sharks, Dorsal Beer Chests and Fosters Beer

Preamble

Prompted by Colin Hill and Brian Maryon

I'm just a learning poet

A poet in progress

If I make mistakes

Forgive. I'm under stress

Colin, Brian you've challenged me

To rhyme about our sharks

Who carry with them Fosters

Do I hear 'what the fark?'

(this is a clean rhyme...

please refrain from expletives...

thankyou)

What I'm about to tell you

Few Australians know

Barring sharky experts

Of which I am a pro

Don't go and scoff. I'm knowledgeable

About our friendly shark

I am about to shed some

Shark light in your dark

Our sharks are quite unique Col/Brian

They've got these dorsal chests

To store their ice-cold Fosters in

And share with sharky guests

Surprised you didn't know this

'Twas covered in the Sun

But silly me I have forgot

Only commoners read, for fun

The fact that Sun did cover it

Suggests I'm knowledge-raw

Our sharks must do some sexy romp

Of which I never saw

I hope your challenge I have met

And satisfied your thirst

For beer and sharks rhymed rhythmically

Next challenge please? (I thirst)

Col and Keith.

On a rare occasion I'm going off-rhyme. Rhyme is in my blood. It's like metronome constantly beating away. To me rhyme is the music to which I add a voice, my message.

I write different. And will continue.

Thanks for your support ?

PS Yes, Tiger does come out of Singapore. I had to type in my date of birth before being let into their website !! Can't let Tiger loose on little boys...

Don,
From memory Tiger Beer is from Singapore Breweries. I used to shift several cans a day. Seriously though Don you have the spirit of a poet so keep writing mate.

Message to Brian:

Poor Brian he's never been here
Nor sat where I have sit
So I can say whatever I like
And get away with it

We throw our boomerangs around
Our yards creating circles
And use words quite sophisticated
(like shit, and what the firkle?)

Forgot me backyard billabong
Brian, I surf a lot
A tidal wave of pleasure had
Shit, I'm shorta shot...

Gosh Keith! I gotta try this Tiger stuff. Their website tells me:

"Tiger is the beer with bite; breaking conventions and championing those who dare to pursue brave ideas to make positive impact. Uncaged."

Grrr.. gotta get uncaged.. watchout ?

Don,
Good work as I think you met the challenge. How do you rate Tiger Beer in comparison to Fosters? Brian must be completely unaware of the intricacies of Australian culture. Diggers are highly sophisticated people who play didyeridus and gaze into billabongs. Two great sources of inspiration from down under. I liked this poem Don. Don´t let our diggers put you down

I've got to look beyond our Australian Sun. ? Gosh that's gonna push me...?

I'm hoping Col might be a bit kinder. Remember boys I'm just a learner.

I can write Tragic
And Comedy
I'm no William Shakespeare
I'm just Little Me ?

Okay Don...here's a really tough challenge for you, might even be beyond you....

Find some Australian culture and if you can, write about it
