No guide, No hero
The majesty of dogs impresses us –
Their solitary solidarity - the pack
Yet, above their grey horizons
There is a promise, lingering….
Often, these days, an ending
Is assumed, designed
To glorify the story of our lives:
Making children, seeing things, being here
Listening, to our hearts’ desires
We realise only yesterday
The sky darkened at noon
Seas spewed forth
Clouds of misery
And all we knew
We soon forgot.
A pulse of re-creation
Lends itself to me,
And to you, and you
With all the good that dogs can do
For this lonely human heart.
Dogs show loyalty, loyalty and love,
They grant the keys of heaven,
Through trust and kindness and love
And the rising mourning dove.

Last line really wraps the whole thing up nicely and on a melancholic note. Keeps it warming the heart.?
