Journey to the Light
Quilt of darkness spread over my soul,
I walked to the bridge with exact toll,
But there was no one to let me pass
I waited for long; then sat on the grass.
But
Had no clock to tick the time,
To keep me sober I started a hymn,
As I uttered, the silence danced,
Few words fled, few got enhanced.
Then
The gushing river her waters black,
With the dirge-rhythm, its flow slack.
A mammoth wave curled me round,
The Tunnel led to the long-lost ground.
Yes
I found the road I longed to trek,
The unending tunnel wherein I wake,
I walked slow and sound in the dark,
Be one with the way; with hope I lurk.
Slowly
Days and nights came and went,
The darkest tunnel with a single vent,
I see the light, warm and bright,
Worries and Hurries, I won’t fight.
So
I walked, strolled, ambled through
Every step, I took was true...
Hurdles and Pains slept with me,
I know, some day I shall be free.
Thus
Went on and on and reached the last
Almost there, but won’t go fast.
I will sleep like a new-born tonight
Tomorrow I shall meet The Light.

Neressa, thanks! This piece has been close to my heart, written when I was younger but perhaps wiser.
