October 10 - World Mental Health Day

entry picture

Joe public, hey mister, my brother, yo sister, father figure,

Mother of mine, big bad world, all I need is patience and time,

You feel me?

October 10 is the date on the wall – hear what I say

World mental health day all the way

It ain’t an easy ride listen up people

My head is hurting in a real bad way

I suffer with fear humiliation and alienation

I cope the best way I can day after day

It’s a lifelong sentence behind invisible bars

I am trapped and want to be set free

There must be some release from this incarceration

Can’t see no way out I aint got the key

What kind of future is there for me?

Day, nights and years on medication

I am just one more number a statistic

It affects one in four across the nation

You all need to understand and be realistic

Look around you what do you see

Cuts in benefit support and funding

It could be a member of your family

Nobody can see how I really feel

It is entirely invisible to the naked eye

Just put on a happy face and a big smile

You will never see the tears inside I cry

This is my reality and world 24/7

I will walk tall and hold my head up high

Because I am not alone in my torment

Care and compassion is the answer and that’s no lie

Joe public, hey mister, my brother, yo sister, father figure,

Mother of mine, big bad world, all I need is patience and time,

You feel me ?

October 10 is the date on the wall – hear what I say

World mental health day all the way

The repetition of the chorus stanza nails home the message. Well done.?
